Description

Androids (Also referred to as; robots, droids, automatons, mechs, bots, bionics, and as a slur; clunkers, clankers, clankas, bolt buckets, drones and the soulless) are a playable race in the Chromed Out universe. These comprise of any artifical life forms that operate on a system, like AI - most predominantly SoulOS, that are able to move themselves freely and mostly have their own free will.

Since the dawn of man, we have been obsessed with not only the aspect of creating artifical life, such as the tales of golems and mechanical men such as the Chess Turk and mechanical puppets of the Japanese, but the easy access of free labor to use in hazardous or non-hazardous environments. Effective labor automation wouldn't come until 1954, where the first commercial, digital and programmable robot was built by George Devol and was named the Unimate, used to help with the assembly of automobiles. Serious artificial intelligence wouldn't come until the 2000s, where computers would be powerful enough to handle such calculations, which compared to even now seem rudimentary.
