Saimei Furukawa is a character in the Chromed Out universe, played by Reiuzi.

Saimei Furukawa is the owner and CEO of Haniwa Workshops, a small custom technology firm from the Pacific States of Cascadia. Embracing her past events, Saimei uses her dubious background to twist words and be a sweet little snake, while working on things to maintain her lifestyle and the exorbitant amount of food she consumes. She will take on small gigs of espionage, mercenary and bounty hunting work however, being an absolute force to be reckoned with. With the knowledge she possesses, and the degrees to show it, there is no telling what she may be up to.

Description

Saimei Furukawa is a 5'2" (1.57 meter) 26 year old hafu (Japanese/Slavic) with black hair and pale skin that bears the marks of labor behind machinery, fits of combat, both honest and dishonest work, mild drug use and all sorts of entertainment work. Her eyes are augmented, and are a mechanical grey, glowing yellow with aperture lenses inside her pupil. Her standing height is an illusion, as her augmentations are detachable, leaving her at an organic height of 2'9" (83cm). Her spine, an augment as well, sticks out of her back to support her various devices and strengthen her frail and flabby looking body. The most obvious trait about Saimei's physical appearance at first is how wide she is - with a BMI of 37, macromastia and other previously inherited and genetically encouraged conditions have ravaged her body useless without augmentations. Her normal garb is a kevlar reinforced crimson bodysuit alone, but occasionally she may wear overwear. Beyond this, some organs inside of her body remain broken and useless to her dismay, particularly her gonads, which she constantly hounds for a solution for.

Character Backstory

Early Life

Early life was not kind to Saimei, who hadn't received her name until later in life. Conceived and born to a Slavic mother, and fathered by a Japanese man, she was in for a world of trouble the moment her zygote was formed. Given birth in a slummy, dingy apartment in Hong Kong, Hong Kong on June 13th, 2059, her life as a newborn was tumultuous as the couple that gave her life struggled to even feed themselves. As such, Saimei suffers from stunted growth to this day, being only at a height of 5'2", which seems normal for just a Japanese person, but for a mixed race person, may be abnormal.

Home life was difficult, as the relationship seemed to be only desired as a one night stand, but left the couple that made the girl only bound by her, and nothing else. Saimei did not receive much love or care as a little child and quickly found out her way around things as she grew up, in a little child's style of doing things, such as drinking puddles of water to slake her thirst or just eat crumbs off the floor if need be. The small girl however grew rather curious about the world, and frequently found herself in trouble by wandering all over her slum complex.

Abandonment

In order to bear the financial burden of the new girl, the couple had gone to local gangs and thugs to see if they could get financial assistance. They found a partner in the local Triad gangs, sealing their eventual fate. Instead of using the money to raise the girl, they instead indulge themselves in numbing the pain of the world they then existed in. Saimei did not understand at the time of what was going on, and instead thought it as the parents being deadly ill, and so went about attempting to help them out in any way she could. The girl became fiercely independent of herself at a young age, and able to cook boxed meals and do basic chores as needed.

After too much trouble was suffered at the hands of the very volatile couple, the two found themselves at the barrel end of several guns of Triads, whose loan sharking got them into trouble. Saimei, now four, now curled up in the arms of her now dead mother, bled to death wrapped in wires in the Hong Kong underground, cries at the distressing situation she cannot understand. At the moment, fate had seemed to have decided that the young girl would drown in her mother's blood, be asphyxiated by the waste wires covering the floors and slowly consumed and lived in by rats and maggots like so many before her have. Fortunately or not, the young girl's crying had not only saved her life, but now had secured her an unfortunate home with the killers of her parents and the wreckers of what little future she would have had - and now exposed her to a much greater, and darker one.

Being found by the Triads complicated their situation as they now had an orphaned child on their hands. Trying to vie for a solution from brass, the group responsible for the death of Saimei's parents are also the ones that fed, clothed and gave her meager shelter, as the little girl had no indication of knowing what had just occurred. Sometimes they would use the little girl as a mule for some light deliveries or as a way to eavesdrop on people, as the young were so gullible. She would prove herself to be a useful tool, and at age 7 she would be officially inducted into the mob.

Triad Life

Saimei grew up amongst crime and corruption, giving her the street smarts to survive much of any ordeal thrown at her, the endurance to cross grimy pools of sewage, the will to mule across miles of cityscape, and her worst curse to come, one that would stick with her for her later life.

Growing up as a sentient being, the now named Saimei, after the mythical Empress of Japan, only has had male parental figures, and can only draw out the masculine feelings that she drew upon in domestic life. She continued work as a mule, spy, and sometimes as an adept hitman and combatant, favoring bullpup pistols and select fire rifles, usually on the semi-auto setting. As a side effect of this, Saimei has seen many nude men as she grew accustomed to just seeing the male figure, even going out on a whim to dress up and have hair like a boy. She always asked herself why her genitals seemed so different from the other boys.

Frequently Saimei would find herself in trouble by botched muling or straight out gunfights in the hot climates of where she may be going. Saimei would eventually be hit by a GKOB bullet in the leg, and she would vividly remember this forever as it had not only disabled her, but combined with the faint memories of how her parents died, gave her deep hoplophobia. Saimei would have been put out of commission from muling and combat at age 13 due to not being able to use her knee properly without replacement, prosthesis or augmentation.

Now being a useless asset, the lame Saimei now wasn't making money. That was until the leader of the Triad she was in had a good look at her, and not only was impressed, but wooed by the way the young girl looked. Saimei was now frequently taken to local doctors, chem merchants and ripperdocs to 'enhance' her figure, inducing several genetic conditions and warping her figure to such obscene proportions to now be labelled as an exotic. Saimei at only 14 had her body, one to rival fertility goddesses of old, and to be presented as not only a show, but as a sacrifice to slake the sensual thirst of many men. This sick fact combined with the operations she has had threw her entire hormonal system out of whack. Saimei had not menstruated since the end of her operations, and certainly cannot now as the area is almost unusable.

Now that Saimei knew what gender she had under great and unnecessary circumstances, she had now taken up a rather useless role of a spoiled brat and queen, and almost settled in to the life, surrendering her body to the simple dopamine and oxytocin that came her way almost daily, along with becoming physically weak and wasting away under the weight she was gaining in places that should not have grown that much on her small frame. It was like this until one day, Saimei was able to walk out of where she was, and reignite her curiosity of the world, asking to go out so much, until her step-father relented and allowed her a formal education.

What stunned the gang is, even though Saimei was poorly treated in her youth, she still had an amazing aptitude for learning anything that came towards her. Quickly the young woman became an avid bookworm and over time became more detached from debauchery, and was more and more seen on television as a minor star in some shows and even was a news anchor for a time. When those gigs died out, Saimei muddled in netrunning to compensate for her poor physical skills, and found small successes in doing so, keeping it as a side hobby and gig when she needed the extra pocket change for her already lined pockets. The promising intelligence of Saimei Furukawa had led the triads to distance themselves from the gifted venusian idol as she read and worked away at problems she had given herself.

Saimei was now an adult at the age of 18, and for not being able to sustain her own part of the Triad, was now separated in all but attachment to the gang she involuntarily was part of. Now in a sort of washed out state, Saimei was now attempting to find her own way in the world in all but effort. She had attempted to do small time acting gigs and the minor tech support she was able to do while netrunning, but in Hong Kong at the time, it was never enough for her to keep her own place on a consistent basis. Instead, she had saved up to move somewhere else to see if she could manage to get something to be able to make her own headway into society - and possibly back into any spotlight.

Saimei had moved to the Pacific States of Cascadia, and just like a fish out of water and not knowing too much English, fit in well in more foreign communities. For the short while, she had worked as a delivery person as well as the occasional karaoke and news anchor before moving to Cascadia itself after properly learning English. One day, she had met with a mad ripperdoc who had promised a special program for her if she allowed the doc to install several augmentations on her. The program was a mercenary program, and for a time Saimei worked as a small time mercenary and assassin, being particularly good at sneaking despite her weight and the large kevlar reinforced crimson catsuit that covered her already exotic body. Now, Saimei finally had her knee back, at the price of all of her original limbs gone, and her overall weight increasing dramatically. She had worked in Cascadia as a nobody entertainer for a while, being popular in small clubs for her exotic body before she had pooled a small sum of money to start going into her scholarly pursuits. In the meantime, she had met a man that goes by the nickname of Sin whom of which she had a short relationship with. During all of this, she had attempted to create her own company, Haniwa Workshops as a way to generate money easier. This meant partnering with Ironcore Materials Company at the time, and the two created a small partnership to supply materials to Haniwa Workshops, as well as the unfortunate fact of dealing with arms and equipment repair from Ironcore's massive mining industry. The joint partnership did bear some fruit, because Saimei was able to invent the world's first railgun, but it was deemed combat ineffective by Ironcore, and the idea was discarded. The railgun, however, still remains in a storage lot in Cascadia. After a short while, Haniwa Workshops became part of Ironcore Materials Company, leaving Saimei with almost no capital left.

Now that she had been left without any liquid currency, now she could not have been able to move back to Hong Kong! Saimei found herself in a nightmare - a situation she had been stranded in. Luckily, Sin was able to assist Saimei with housing, as the local gang he had made was able to secure some form of shelter for the young woman. However, the situation she found herself in was not too unfamiliar to her, and she was confident she would find a way out of this. She had resorted back to the familiar work she had done the past years, being an entertainer, menial worker, and in the meanwhile attempting to find legal loopholes to get her company back onto her belt. The legal system of Cascadia was very biased towards corporations, and so Saimei was not able to get Haniwa Workshops back on her belt… yet.

Saimei was eventually able to book a flight back to Hong Kong, to find it changed, almost sterile compared to the hazy, drug and sex fueled memories she has had back in the day. International pressures on the city lead the city into becoming the manifestation of stress to her, as if things were about to melt down. However, at the time, it was not so bad. Saimei managed to meet back with her surrogate father, telling him about Cascadia and her time there, and becoming a daddy's girl again.

One day, an email was given to her on her PDA about a legal proceeding she had missed. Haniwa Workshops was hers again… along with the rest of Ironcore! This was absurd to her, but because of where she was in Hong Kong, the money from and for Ironcore stayed offshore. But now she had Haniwa Workshops back, as the CEO and Owner in name no less, but never to be able to get the profits from the work of others.

Present Day

The young woman finds herself in a unique position with many paths. Relying on the Triads she had spent a majority of her life with would give her an easy, pleasing, yet overall uneventful and fruitless life of just using her body as an excuse to stay happy, yet the relentless march of time goes on and there's no telling what aging will do to her body. To rely on herself means she has a modicum of control, to be free in an environment that was known once for its own economic freedoms, and there's no telling what a wildcard path would be like for her down the road. Living in Cascadia had an effect on what she thinks she may be able to do, and with her technological skills, may be able to create something wonderful or terrible, or use her mild netrunning skills to garner profit in the way Silicon Valley techies are able to. Lastly, with the ownership of Ironcore and Haniwa Workshops, she has the industrial capacity to create whatever she wants… anything she wants, to bend fate in her favor, or change the world forever.

Created as a dare, Saimei Furukawa was fleshed out to be the character she is today with several goals in mind:

Facing criticism for the design of the character, she was rarely used outside of events.
