Description
Railgun
A railgun is a weapon system classified with the following requirements:
- Fires a ferromagnetic projectile, 3mm in diameter, or 5.08cm long but no wider than 3mm.
- Fires at a speed of 0.8 Mach to 3.0 Mach. Automatic railguns must abide by being no more than 1.2 Mach.
- Semi-automatic, with a motivator to prime the rails and safely load the projectile, single shot with a manual way to insert the projectile with the weapon priming itself, or automatic with a RoF of less than 350 RPM.
- Carries excess charge safely to ground.
- Carried by hand.
Railcannon
A railcannon is a weapon system classified with the following requirements:
- Fires a ferromagnetic projectile, 9mm in diameter, or 12.7cm long but no wider than 9mm.
- Fires at a speed of 2.0 Mach to 3.0 Mach.
- Semi-automatic, with a motivator to prime the rails and safely load the projectile, or automatic with a RoF less than 30 RPM.
- Carries excess charge safely to ground.
- Equipped to a vehicle or carried by exoskeleton.
