Summary

The United States Army was the primary occupying ground force acting on behalf of the United States Government, from the year 1775 until between 2055 and 2065, with the ten year process that was the Balkanization of The United States. Eventually, as the US balkanized, and massive corporations began to get together, and find themselves far more involved in the activities of these newly-formed countries, a large portion of the remaining US Army servicemembers either went AWOL, and vanished elsewhere, were processed back into the respective Army National Guard outfits that were currently stationed and active within the states of their home of record, thereby becoming that country's military. Other soldiers were far more career-centric in how they viewed this occurrence, and were given the option to transition over to service within one of numerous large-scale private military corporations, in similar, or job-retrained roles. Others focused deeply on a military-oriented career transitioned, voluntarily, over the course of the ten-year period, and eventually fully transitioned over the United Nations AeroNavy, or UNAN, which is currently contained under the command of the United Nations Security Group.

Generally speaking, almost all currently enlisted officers, or career soldiers, went directly from their positions within the US Army, to high-ranking roles within either ArmaTech, or UNAN, with some national security positions going directly from government service, to UNSG Command positions.

Newly Cascadian Military Assets

In the process leading up to Formation Day, the ARNG (Army National Guard) of all the states that became Cascadia were totally dissolved, except for ARNG units which were stationed in Alaska. This occurred after all Active Duty servicemembers were processed back to the ARNG of their respective homes. Alaskan Air and Army National Guard units were left untouched, and then converted directly into the UZPF, or The Upper Zone Protection Force, which became a (voluntarily) all-augmented human force of individuals whose primarily role was concerned with defending the land and borders of the Zone 1 and sometimes Zone 2 area of Cascadia, prior to the creation of the Cascadian Border Zone (CBZ). This was the first and only all-human, all augmented, armed force under Cascadian control. They remained in-service until the CBZ was properly established among the northern border of Cascadia. Many of these individuals were then integrated into Cascadian Defensive Operations, or CasDefOp/CDO for short, as it is normally known as, in Cascadia. Members of the UZPF were the first individuals to become Interpreters.
