NetSpace
Summary
A NetSpace is a physically accessible virtual reality system set up within SprawlNET, that represents infrastructure, or sometimes just custom spaces set up per person, within the Net, for NetRunning purposes.
Personal NetSpace
A personal NetSpace is something that anyone can purchase the equipment for, in their apartment. It usually comes as a chair, or a terminal if said person is running a PhantomCable.
Personal NetSpaces are physical locations within the map, they are built into a separate box, outside of the main play area. Their sizes can be customized.
Within our schema, when you have one set up, you roleplay jacking in, through whatever means you have set up in your apartment. You press E on the designated object for this, your screen will fade to black, and then come back with your character physically inside of their netspace.
NetPoints
A NetPoint is any point where you are able to jack into, or out of NetSpace. Some may simply be modems, terminals, or computers that you access over a PhantomCable. Some may be full-fledged chairs, that you sit back, in.
NetStorage
You can set up NetStorage inside of these NetSpaces as well - you can move any and all objects freely into your NetStorage from real life, and vice versa - there is however, a 1-hour wait-period between an item being physical in real life, and you removing it from the NetStorage.
NetTunnels
You can pay money to have your NetSpace equipped with a NetTunnel. This means that you are able to tunnel into a friend's NetSpace, from your own, and vice versa.
Do note that you CANNOT jack out of a friend's NetSpace back into real life. You must first tunnel back into your personal NetSpace, and then jack out from there.
Surrogate Jack-Out
In certain instances, if someone sets up the proper equipment for connecting a Surrogate to a NetSpace Jack-Out/In point, and you have the correct ChipWare installed, you are able to perform a Surrogate Jack-Out.
This requires:
- A Neural Interface slotted to your Neural Stack
- A Neural Uplink slotted to your Neural Stack
- A Surrogate Access Point installed to your NetPoint.
- A Surrogate Body hooked up to the Surrogate Access Point, on the NetPoint.
When performing a Surrogate Jack-Out, you are able to temporarily stream yourself into the surrogate body, and control it in real life, remotely, while still jacked into NetSpace from your original NetPoint.
The penalties for crime are far, far worse, when committed via a Surrogate Body.
If a Surrogate Body is rendered inoperable, suddenly offline, or is destroyed, you will suffer a NRTH (Pronounced "nerth.") This means NO ROUTE TO HOST, and it will immediately tear you out of NetSpace entirely, and cause you to be thrown IMMEDIATELY into full Techshock.
This will often-times, require immediate medical attention.
